A house for the in-between
A slower
kind of luxury.
A home in the Kumaon hills for long lunches, cold mornings, and the people you want to keep close.
Start with the story ↗Some houses are built
to be visited. This one
is being built to be lived in.
Oakghar began with a piece of land in Satkhol and a simple idea: make a house where friends and families can disappear into the Kumaon hills, without a schedule or a performance.
It is not a resort with a list of things to do. It is a house in the making — and an invitation to stay close to the people, food and landscape that make it worth building.

Oakghar is a ghar
among the oaks.
The house sits among a small grove of banj trees. Banj is the Himalayan oak — a tree that holds water, shade, birds, and the feeling of being held.

03 / The pause
The kind of quiet
you can hear.
Wake up before the valley does. Walk nowhere in particular. Watch the light move across the oaks.
02 · Where we are now कहानी
The first room
was only the beginning.
The servant quarter is made, but Oakghar is not a story about one room or one meal. The main house is under construction now — the shared heart of the place, opening in summer 2027.
What comes next is the part we want to share: the people who make it, the local table that will feed it, the views that shape its quiet, and the friends who will give the house its life.

The house is taking shape one clear step at a time. We are sharing the build on Instagram — the work that is done, the work still under construction, and what comes next.

The long way
is part of the stay.
Somewhere around Satkhol, above Mukteshwar, the road starts to feel like part of the holiday. This is a regional sense of place — not the private pin of the house.

A house in the hills is made of small scenes. This is the rhythm we are building towards — a first cup, a local table, and the last colour on the ridge.

The food photograph is a temporary reference image — your own Kumaoni table will replace it when ready.
