Bhowali
A practical base for a visit focused on Kainchi Dham and nearby road connections. Check the exact property location and traffic conditions.
The best base depends on whether your trip is a short temple visit, a Nainital holiday or a slower Kumaon escape. Compare the route, not just the label “near Kainchi Dham”.
Important: Oakghar is an independent future stay near Satkhol and is not affiliated with Kainchi Dham or Neem Karoli Baba Ashram. Check the ashram’s own guidance before planning your visit.

Useful if the lake, town activities and a broader tourist itinerary matter as much as the temple visit.
Better for a quieter regional stay where Kainchi Dham is one day’s outing rather than the entire purpose of the trip.
Hill travel times change with weather, traffic and road conditions. Check Google Maps shortly before leaving and confirm with your host.
The Kumaon government’s destination page places Kainchi Dham on the Nainital–Almora Road, about 9 km from Bhowali and 17 km from Nainital. The ashram’s own information advises visitors that it is not currently inviting general overnight stays, so travellers should arrange accommodation in Nainital, Bhowali or another nearby base.
That distinction matters: “Kainchi Dham stay” usually means a hotel or homestay nearby, not an overnight stay inside the ashram. Read the official Kumaon page and ashram guidance before travelling.
Oakghar is being made for guests who want the wider Kumaon landscape, a quieter home and time away from a packed itinerary. It is not a Kainchi Dham hotel and is not open for bookings yet; the planned booking window begins in March 2027.
